Gettler JCRC Breakfast Briefing Series

The Gettler JCRC Breakfast Briefing Series focuses on national security issues, with particular emphasis on current events in Israel and the Middle East, and antisemitism. High level speakers from around the world make presentations, answer questions and interact with guests in an exclusive, intimate forum. Generously sponsored by Ben and Dee Gettler.

BEN GETTLER’S LEGACY

Ben served as a visionary leader for many organizations, and we at the Jewish Community Relations Council (JCRC) are honored to be among such prestigious peers. Ben joined the board of the JCRC in 1971. To Ben, the central mission was and continues to be fighting anti semitism and advocating for the security of Israel and the Jewish People. He became Chair of the JCRC in 1978 and, through his strong leadership, reinvigorated the board and the organization. In 2000, Ben was awarded the JCRC’s Peace of the City award for his vision of a fair and just society for all.

Since the late 1980s, the JCRC has held a series of “breakfast briefings,” and in 2010, we named them in honor of Ben and Dee. The Gettler Breakfast Briefings are typically held downtown, and are designed for leading policy makers and opinion leaders in the Cincinnati region, including elected officials; clergy and other interfaith leaders; ethnic community leaders; media personalities; and business and academic figures. Previous briefings have focused on national security issues, with particular emphasis on current events in Israel and the Middle East and antisemitism. High level speakers from around the world have made presentations. Ben’s support was instrumental in making this series a success.

We also thank Ben for his service to more civic and Jewish organizations than can be counted, including serving as Chair of the board of trustees of the University of Cincinnati, Chair of the board of The Jewish Hospital, National Chair of the Jewish Institute for National Security Affairs and a founding member of both The Jewish Foundation of Cincinnati and the national Republican Jewish Coalition.
