Northern Kentucky University's 2021-2022 season of the Six@Six Lecture Series is focused on the American democracy. Their season’s third “lecture” is not a traditional lecture. Rather, NKU Dance Professor Tracey Bonner will talk about the importance of the arts in raising awareness about civil rights and other issues in our democracy. She’ll be joined by NKU dancers Maiya Caldwell, Arianna Catalno, Madisyn McLaughlin, Lavette Patterson and Kasey Weinfurtner who will interpret Bonner’s talk through choreography.

Tracey Bonner is Associate Professor of Dance & BFA Dance Coordinator at Northern Kentucky University and has a long-standing career as an artist, an arts advocate, as an artistic leader, and entrepreneur. She has developed course work in higher education focused on inclusivity, has redefined artistic and academic leadership for women, while simultaneously refining and developing her own artistic aesthetic in dance. Tracey received an Al Smith Artistic Fellow for the Kentucky Arts Council (2017) for her work combining dance and social justice and has received other recognitions for her artistic work in theatre and dance. Her greatest interest is providing a voice for the unheard human spirit and creating art providing a place to belong. Tracey received her BFA from Shenandoah Conservatory of Shenandoah University, her MFA from University of California, Irvine, and is a consummate artist at heart.
