CHHE, in partnership with  Wise Temple, presents The Stephen and Lusia Hornstein Lecture on the Holocaust and the Human Spirit. This year's lecture will be by Susannah Heschel, an American scholar, public intellectual, and the Eli Black professor of Jewish Studies at Dartmouth College. Her scholarship focuses on Jewish-Christian relations in Germany during the 19th and 20th centuries, the history of biblical scholarship and the history of anti-Semitism.  The author and editor of numerous books and articles, she is a Guggenheim Fellow and the recipient of numerous grants and awards, including four honorary doctorates.  Heschel is the daughter of Abraham Joshua Heschel. She is married to James Louis (Yaakov) Aronson, Professor Emeritus of Earth Sciences at Dartmouth College, and the mother of two daughters.

Heschel will be speaking about Jews, Civil Rights and the Holocaust.
